Looking to hire an ABC?

An Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) is a proven professional. ABCs have demonstrated that their experience, expertise and abilities meet a global standard. They have been judged to be competent by their peers. Moreover, they have undertaken this process as a significant personal commitment to their professional development.

To successfully complete the accreditation process, candidates must submit two comprehensive work samples, including a statement of measurable objectives and results, analysis and plans. The portfolio requirement, evaluated by at least two accredited communicators, assures that candidates can think strategically and function tactically. Candidates are then required to take a comprehensive four-hour written examination, which covers general knowledge of organizational communication, developing a full-range communication program, and philosophy of organizational communication, as well as a 30-minute oral exam which deals with a case history. The exams are graded by at least three IABC accredited communicators.

For recruiters and executive search firms, ABCs are not only qualified for senior communication positions, they are well networked and can refer you to other professionals.

Hiring an ABC doesn't ensure that you have hired the very best communicator in the world, but you can be sure that this candidate knows his or her business.
