IABC Accreditation
IABC’s accreditation process includes set entry points for candidates to send portfolios and take exams.
Portfolio Deadlines
- 1 April
Portfolio deadline for those who applied and were accepted to the program between July and January.
- 1 September
Portfolio deadline for those who applied and were accepted to the program between February and June.
These windows of acceptance allow a minimum of two months’ lead time for portfolio completion.
You may send your portfolio before these deadlines, but it will not be graded until the assigned date. Learn more about the portfolio submission process.
If you are unable to meet your original portfolio deadline, you may request an extension to the next portfolio deadline using an extension request form. Note: Should you be approved for an extension and then not be able to send your portfolio by the new deadline, you will need to reapply and repay the accreditation fee to continue pursuing your accreditation. Candidates are limited to one extension.
Scheduled Exam Dates
Candidates will be required to participate in a group exam date. Some of the scheduled exam periods and locations include:
- September: Regional Conferences
- October: Regional Conferences
- November: Regional Conferences
- 25 February 2012: Leadership Institute, Miami, Florida, USA
- 23 June 2012: IABC 2011 World Conference, Chicago, Illinois, USA
Local exams are also scheduled through Accreditation Completion Programs throughout the year coordinated by a selected local chapters. Check with your nearest chapter to find out if they are offering a program. Candidates not involved in these programs may participate in these exams.
The up-to-date exam schedule will provide you with the contact information for the lead exam proctors. Please e-mail the proctors and let them know that you plan to attend their scheduled exam.
