Dues effective 1/1/2008
A Board motion approved in June 2003 requires the Executive Board to review international membership dues annually and raise them in tandem with government-reported cost-of-living statistics if necessary.
The 2007 review resulted in approval of a small increase effective January 1, 2008:
- Tier A countries: from USD$220 to USD$226 (plus chapter and region dues)
- Tier B countries: from USD$182 to USD$187 (plus chapter and region dues)
- Tier C countries: from USD$158 to USD$162 (plus chapter and region dues)
- Tier D countries: from USD$113 to USD$116 (plus chapter and region dues)
- Students: from USD$43 to USD$44
- Retired Members: from USD$43 to USD$44
The tier to which a country belongs can be determined by looking up its current tier, however Belgium will change to Tier B, effective 1 January 2008.

While no one likes a dues increase of any size, small increases each year eliminate the need for large “correctional” increases on a more occasional basis. Moreover, they allow IABC to keep up with vendor costs (also increasing) in order to maintain the same quality of programs, service, and membership. Furthermore, dues increases allow us to invest in new programs.
Attention Canadian Members: IABC will change the Canadian/US exchange rate on 1/1/08, and this rate will be in effect until 31 December 2008. The new rate will be US$1 = CDN$1.10. IABC sets the exchange rate annually (instead of more frequently) in order to communicate a consistent dues rate for a meaningful period of time. This practice has been proven to reduce confusion about dues. As always, Canadian members have the option of paying dues in either US or Canadian dollars. This change will slightly reduce dues for Canadian members, even with the dues increase described above.
