Fellow Award

The highest honor IABC confers, the Fellow Award recognizes outstanding contributions to the association and the communication profession.

Fellow Award

As an IABC member, you surely know a masterful communicator: someone who shapes business communication in creative and practical ways. Think of someone you consider a mentor and teacher, or an ethical, motivating leader. These are the kind of people to consider for the highest honor that our association can bestow on an individual: IABC Fellow. You are invited—and encouraged—to nominate someone for this prestigious designation.

Download the official nomination form. PDF file While it will take a bit of effort to compile the requested information about your nominee, the time is well spent. In honoring people who shape our profession, we reinforce the value of the work we all do every day. Because individuals do not nominate themselves to be IABC Fellows, and often do not even know they have been nominated, it’s up to you to take some time to consider who is worthy of this unique honor.

Please nominate deserving candidates by 9 January 2009. The nomination form PDF file is the starting point. Please also gather letters of endorsement, an extended résumé, lists of accomplishments or awards, writing or work samples, or other materials that support your nomination by showing the candidate’s success in each of the following areas:

  • Contribution to and leadership in the organizational communication profession
  • Career achievement
  • Authorship, speaking engagements, thought leadership and lecturing
  • Contributions to IABC
  • Professional recognition for other activities, including other business-related achievements, community involvement and volunteer service.

Any IABC member is eligible, except for current members of the IABC executive board and anyone who has served as chair of the association in the past three years. All nominations are active for two consecutive years.

The Fellow selection committee, composed of current Fellows from around the world, will evaluate each nomination carefully and recommend a candidate or candidates to the IABC executive board in February 2009. The 2009 Fellow will be notified in March and honored at IABC’s World Conference in San Francisco on 7 June. Unlike other IABC awards that are given annually, being named a Fellow is a lifetime designation. Clearly, it is the greatest honor that IABC bestows.

Thank you for your help in recognizing people who have distinguished themselves through career achievement and contributions to our profession.

Sincerely,

Sheri Rosen, ABC, IABC Fellow
