going green: protecting our environment
IABC is committed to environmental sustainability. This is why we are taking steps to decrease waste, reduce the use of resources and minimize the environmental impact of this conference.
Here's what we can do together:
Protect our forests. The book of speaker handouts and conference directory will be available on a USB flash drive provided to all attenders, eliminating 365,000 pages of printed material, or approximately 43 trees. The conference brochure uses paper certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and sourced from responsibly managed forests. Online conference registration and confirmation is offered, and exhibitor kits will be distributed electronically.
Leave an environmental legacy. IABC encourages you to join our staff in the Million Trees NYC and New York Restoration Project on Saturday, 21 June, to plant 1,000 trees and help reduce pollution.
Practice the 3 Rs. Reduce, reuse and recycle as much as possible. The New York Hilton will provide visible and accessible recycling receptacles for paper, metal, plastic and glass. Reuse the conference totes (made from 85 percent post-consumer recycled plastic) and name badges, and participate in the hotel's linen and towel reuse program.
Help fight global climate change. Support projects that reduce carbon dioxide emissions by offsetting your carbon footprint. For more information on how carbon offsets work and how you can help reduce global warming, visit www.carbonfund.org.
