M1 / Unified messaging across the enterprise

Date: Monday, 23 June
Time: 10:30–11:45 a.m.
Track: Employee Communication

In 2007, Verizon focused on new brand positioning and standardizing employee communication across the enterprise while concentrating on centralized operations and major acquisitions. This presentation will describe the internal positioning of new brand standards through integrated, streamlined employee communication across all business units—grounded in a unique approach to measurement, social media use for two-way messaging and cost-saving communication strategies.

In this session, you will discuss how Verizon:

  • Employed a marketing and advertising focus to measure employee engagement
  • Implemented a communication strategy that used technology for online and offline employees
  • Ensured enterprisewide messaging even in a fragmented employee environment

Presenters / Donna Itzoe / New Jersey, USA, leverages new types of media to reach a diverse employee audience in her role as director of employee communications for Verizon. She focuses on the strategic implementation of the right message and medium for the right audience.

Angela Peluso / New Jersey, USA, is a 10-year veteran of Verizon, formerly GTE, and is currently director of strategic planning and programs. During her tenure, she developed strategic communication plans, commissioned a communication research effort and developed a series of internal branding programs.
