Conference Session: T13
T13 / The silent language of leadership: Managing change without saying a word
Date: Tuesday, 24 June
Time: 1:15–2:30 p.m.
Track: Change Management
When your body language is not aligned with your verbal message, people believe what they see and not what you say. The words you use are important, but our brains are "hardwired" to respond to nonverbal signals—and most leaders aren’t aware of the role nonverbal communication plays in change management.
In this session, you’ll learn:
- How nonverbal signals can sabotage positive messages
- The role of “emotional contagion” in change management communication
- Ten ways leaders can use body language to project confidence, credibility and inclusion
Presenter / Carol Kinsey Goman, Ph.D. / California, USA, is a coach, consultant and keynote speaker who helps clients thrive on change. She addresses association, government and business audiences around the world. The title of her latest book is The Nonverbal Advantage: Secrets and Science of Body Language at Work.
