Flights and Ground Transportation
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport (OAK) serve downtown San Francisco. SFO is approximately 13 miles south and OAK is approximately 20 miles east of San Francisco. Plan to book your flights early as fares can increase significantly closer to the conference dates.
Ground transportation from the airports to the San Francisco Marriott
Public transportation: Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) operates rapid rail services. Fares are US$5.35 from SFO and US$6.55 from OAK and both rides are 30 minutes from the airport to downtown San Francisco. Exit at the Powell Street Station and walk to the Marriott via the Fourth Street exit.
The SFO BART station is located on the Departures/Ticketing level of the International Terminal (Boarding Area G side). BART is easily accessible from other terminals by riding SFO’s AirTrain to the Garage G/BART Station stop.
From OAK, take the AirBART bus shuttle to the BART Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station and from there take BART to San Francisco. AirBART shuttles run every 10 minutes, until midnight. Pick-up location is between Terminal 1 and 2 at OAK’s third curbside. One-way regular fare is US$3 paid with exact change only. More information.
Taxicabs: Taxi service is available from both airports to San Francisco. Approximate fare from SFO is US$30–44; approximate fare from OAK is US$52–58. Taxis may add a US$2 pass-through fee to all airport fares leaving SFO. These fares do not include any tolls or tip.
Door-to-door airport shuttles: SuperShuttle—Rides to and from SFO cost US$17 (per person, one-way) or US$34 (per person, round-trip). Rides to and from OAK cost US$27 (per person, one-way) or US$54 (per person, round-trip). Make reservations online or call +1 800.258.3826.
At SFO, claim your luggage (lower level). Proceed to the upper level and outside to the curb. Follow the SuperShuttle signs to meet the SFO Airport agent (in teal green jackets) and they will arrange your SuperShuttle transportation to your destination. You will wait for your van at Terminal 1 (across from Air Canada) or Terminal 3 across from United door 3.
At OAK, advanced reservations are required. Call +1 800.258.3826 to make your reservation. Upon arrival call the same number, select option 1 and provide your reservation number so SuperShuttle can accommodate you. Wait for your SuperShuttle van across from Terminal 1, shelter 3, at the “Door-to-Door Reservation” zone.
For information on other shuttle services operating from both airports to the conference hotel, visit the airports’ web sites—SFO and OAK.
Visa Requirements for International Attenders
Citizens of some countries may need visas to enter the U.S. and should plan to apply for their visas well in advance. Due to new security measures, it takes longer for U.S. embassies and consulates abroad to process applications. Additional information on securing entry visas.
Please read our policy on issuing letters of invitation.
