Role of committee

It shall be the duty of the investment committee to recommend a financial adviser for association funds, for approval by the executive board; work with said financial adviser to develop and recommend investment options for approval of the executive board; recommend investment policy; supervise investment of IABC funds, up to limits established by the executive board, in vehicles with guaranteed returns offered by such banks, trust companies, or other corporate bodies or organizations as may from time to time be designated by, or under authority of, the executive board; and report to the executive board as defined in IABC policy.



Maliha AqeelMaliha Aqeel PMP – Chair | Maliha is an award-winning, senior communicator with experience in brand strategy, reputation management and financial communication for global clients. Her accomplishments include development of a new brand for Institute of Corporate Directors and the revamp of ICD’s Director Journal, both of which have won an IABC Gold Quill (Merit) and an IABC Canada Silver Leaf (Excellence) each.  She’s served on the Brand Taskforce responsible for IABC’s new brand, the World Conference PAC (2015, 2016) and IABC Gold Quill Virtual Blue Ribbon Panel. Outside of communication, she has subject expertise in customer experience, corporate governance and securities regulation.

Scott Cytron HeadshotScott H. Cytron ABC – Vice Chair | Scott is president of Cytron and Company, known for helping companies and organizations improve their bottom line through strategic public relations, communications, marketing programs and top-notch client service. An accredited consultant, Scott works with companies in professional services (medical, legal, accounting, engineering), high-tech and B2B/B2C product/service sales. Scott is a founding member of a Vistage Thought-Leader Group. He most recently served for a three-year term, including a year as first vice president, for the Dallas Jewish Historical Society. Scott has served the International Association of Business Communicators in a number of positions at all levels, and is vice chair of the Investment Committee for 2017-18.

matt evans_portraitMatt Evans | Matt is the managing principal of Orgcom LLC, a firm dedicated to helping companies achieve their business goals through effective organizational communications. With over 30 years of experience, he has significant knowledge of human resources, employee and marketing communications. Through his career, Matt has provided communication strategy and implementation direction for numerous companies including the Timken Company, Towers Perrin and Hewitt Associates. He served in several leadership roles on the Northeast Ohio IABC chapter, earning Vision, Silver Quill and Chapter Management Awards. Matt is currently the Finance director for the Heritage Region and previously the Growth and Development director.

thomasThomas Baen | Thomas is the senior marketing analyst for Academy Sports + Outdoors, has over 13 years of experience in the communications field. His most recent experiences are strategic planning and marketing research. He hold a Bachelor’s of Arts in Public Relations from Texas Tech and a Master’s of Science in Health Service Research from Texas State along with numerous certificates from Texas State, University of Texas and Villanova. Thomas has worked in health care, nonprofit, retail, legal and tourism. He has been a member of IABC since 2010 and has served the chapter as immediate past president (2016-2017) president (2015-2016), president elect (2014-2015), VP of Professional Development (2013-2014), Sponsorship Chair (2012-2013) and VP of Marketing (2011-2012).

Alain LegaultAlain Legault – IEB Liaison | Alain Legault, based in Montréal, is the director for communication, public affairs and government relations of the largest college in the province of Québec, Canada. From 2005 to 2011, he acted has the chief of staff of the director of the Montréal Police Service. He also teaches media relations at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). A high-level, bilingual communication professional with expertise in crisis management and corporate issues, he demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, and above all, a desire to be involved and to excel. He joined IABC more then 10 years ago and, has been a member of the board of IABC/Montréal, the largest bilingual chapter of IABC, since 2010, as well as its president from 2013–15.

Ginger Homan_2016 Bio Ginger  D. Homan  ABC – IEB Vice Chair | 
Ginger D. Homan, ABC, is founder of Zia Communications, a firm specializing in campaigns to change behaviors, build communities and transform thinking. Her award-winning communication model has been used by foundations and corporations to grow brands and align cultures. Ginger is serving her second term IABC Secretary/Treasurer on the Internal Executive Board. She is the recipient of the 2016 Chairman’s award and former director of North America for the IABC Accreditation Committee. Her work has been recognized by the IABC Gold Quill program, the Society of Marketers of Professional Services, the Public Relations Society of America and American Advertising Awards; she is the recipient of the IABC Tulsa chapter’s John Hartman Professional Communicator of the Year award and served in several roles on her local board including president. She is a recipient of Leadership Tulsa’s Paragon Award for her board service with local nonprofits.
