Role of committee

The committee screens nominees for vice chair, director, and secretary/treasurer and committee members under guidelines adopted by the executive board. The nominating committee shall screen nominees under guidelines adopted by the executive board, primarily on the basis of competency criteria established by IABC, with consideration for geographic, demographic, and cultural diversity, and shall present its slate to the executive board for approval.

Dianne Chase

Dianne Lynn Chase – ChairDianne Lynn Chase is senior partner at C4CS, LLC, Leaders in Strategic Communication and Crisis Management, serving client partners from around the world. She oversees strategic development and instruction in crisis communication, planning and management; message development; issues management; and presentation and interviewing skills training for corporate and government clients. She is past chair of the IABC Southern Region, where she served five years on the board. She served as vice chair of the 2015 IABC World Conference Program Advisory Committee and as a member of the IABC Brand Taskforce. She is a past three time president of her home chapter in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Chase is also a long-standing board member and past two-term president (and first woman to serve in the role) of the Radio-Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (formerly the Radio Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas). She is the winner of numerous local, state, regional and national broadcast journalism awards. She’s was named to ‘50 Most Influential Women’ by the Mecklenburg Times and her awards include a National Associated Press Broadcasters Enterprise Award and the Bishop Fulton J. Sheen Award.

 

Ginger Homan_2017Ginger D. Homan ABC, SCMP – IEB Vice Chair | Ginger Homan, ABC, is founder of Zia Communications, a firm specializing in campaigns to change behaviors, build communities and transform thinking. Her award-winning communication model has been used by foundations and corporations to grow brands and align cultures. Ginger served as a director on the International Executive Board from 2014-2017 and as IABC Secretary/Treasurer from 2015- 2017.  She was the Director of North American for the IABC Accreditation Committee and served in several roles on her local chapter board. Ginger is a recipient of the 2016 IABC Chairman’s Award, the IABC Tulsa chapter’s John Hartman Professional Communicator of the Year and Leadership Tulsa’s Paragon Award for board service with the American Heart Association. Her work has been recognized by the IABC Gold Quill program, the Society of Marketers of Professional Services and the Public Relations Society of America.
 

Carol Allers_Headshot (2)Carol Allers ABC, APR | Carol is a Professional Communication Specialist with more than 20 years’ experience in internal and external communication and is recognized internationally as a crisis communication specialist. Carol hails from the Eastern Cape in South Africa and studied through the University of South Africa (UNISA). She holds the position of Issues and Crisis Communication Manager at Eskom.  Carol is the current President / Chair of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Africa Region and a professional member of the Public Relations Institute of South Africa (PRISA).  She is an ABC (Accredited Business Communicator of the IABC) and an APR (Accredited Public Relations Practitioner).  She has represented Eskom at a number of international associations in her capacity as a communication specialist.   She has a keen interest in community work being a founding member of the Klipheuwel Schools Trust and a previous director of a child welfare society.   Carol is a keen golfer and loves exploring new places.
 

Ben_012Ben Shaw | Ben has worked in media and public relations for close to 20 years and uses his experience to help clients plan and execute their communications programs; from developing strategy and content through to distribution, engagement and assessment. As well as helping oversee global operations at SE10, Shaw is also actively involved with campaigns on several of the company’s accounts. Having started as a junior editor with a construction publishing house in the 1990s he worked his way up to an editorship position before leaving journalism in 2002 to co-found SE10. Based in Singapore, Shaw is also responsible for growing SE10’s Asian operations, which opened for business in 2013. He is a member of both the International Association of Business Communicators and the Institute of Public Relations for Singapore. He has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture from the University of Leeds in the UK.
 

Tim Tuck headshot_2017Tim Tuck ABC | Tim is the Chair of the IABC’s Canada East Region Board of Directors (2017-18) and is Past-President of the IABC Golden Horseshoe Chapter (2013-14).  He received his accreditation in 2006.  Tim joined the faculty of Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in 2007, following a 22-year career in journalism and corporate communications. He is the Program Coordinator/Professor in the college’s Public Relations Graduate Certificate Program. Tim’s communications career has taken him through the worlds of entertainment, sports, and municipal government. He enjoys spending quality family time with his wife and their four children and their families, including two granddaughters.
 

Catherine DucharmeCatherine Ducharme  | Catherine is a career communicator who brings 25+ years of corporate, marketing and employee communications leadership experience with organizations across a range of sectors.  She is also an entrepreneur, having run two successful communication companies.  Currently, Catherine is a senior communications/PR recruitment consultant with Smart, Savvy + Associates, a search company that specializes in finding communications, marketing and sales talent. Known as a connector, relationship builder and networker, Catherine is an avid speaker and mentor.  She is the past president of IABC’s British Columbia chapter and is currently serving on the IABC Canada West Board.

Based in the United Arab Emirates, Alex holds the position of Corporate Communications Manager for the Arabian Peninsula at Procter & Gamble. A journalist by training and with a cultural mix that is both European and Arabic, Alex’s expertise spans communications and media, public relations and marketing for both multinationals in the energy, technology and FMCG space as well as several Gulf-based government institutions.
 

Mary Bogan AMary Bogan | Mary has helped organizations with marketing, communications, and training challenges for over 20 years. She has worked for corporations, advertising agencies, small companies, and owned her own marketing communications consulting company for 12 years. Within the last 15 years, Mary has worked primarily for technology-based organizations. She has also worked with corporate IT Departments developing and implementing internal communications programs. She has been an adjunct professor at both Wilmington College and Sinclair Community College, teaching Marketing Courses and Business Writing. Mary has been active in the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) for over 15 years. In that time, she was a board member of IABC Dayton and served as its president for three years. She has served on IABC’s Heritage Region Board as Professional Development Director, Finance Director, Director-Elect, Region Chair, Past Chair, and Chair-Elect again.
 

Simms_M_2814_HiResMichelle Simms | Michelle is a communications director for Kaiser Permanente, one of America’s leading health care providers and not-for-profit health plans that serves 11.8 million members in eight states and the District of Columbia. Since joining the organization, she has held several roles and currently directs communication for the organization’s National Compliance, Ethics & Integrity Office. Prior to Kaiser Permanente, she worked for major corporations in the petroleum refining and aerospace and defense industries. Michelle holds a master’s degree in business organizational management from the University of La Verne and a bachelor’s degree in technical publications from San Jose State University.
 

Mary H Francis_2017Mary Hardin Francis | Mary is President of Hardin-Francis Enterprises, LLC, a strategic marketing communication agency that has worked with clients in various industries for over 25 years and has been the recipient of multiple Bronze and Silver Quill Awards. Prior to founding her firm, Mary was a partner at Eventions and Director of Media Relations for the Houston Public Library System. She also taught Visual Communications at Lone Star College and provides marketing communication for Houston charities. Mary is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Journalism degree and Marketing specialization. Her involvement with the Southern Region began when she created the Align ’09 region conference website. She has served the region in a number of positions and is an IABC Houston past president.
 

Shannon_FrederickShannon Frederick | Shannon Frederick, ABC, is a strategic communications and human resources professional with nearly 20 years of corporate experience. She currently serves as director of global leader development for Walmart and is based at the company’s Home Office in Bentonville, Arkansas. Shannon is a member of IABC Tulsa, which won the 2013 IABC International Chapter of the Year Award under her presidency. She has also served on the boards of IABC Dallas and the IABC Southern Region. Shannon is a 2016 Gold Quill and “Best of the Best” winner, and a recipient of IABC Tulsa’s John Hartman Professional of the Year Award. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Broadcasting/Public Relations and a master’s degree in Mass Communication from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and in 2011 completed all requirements to hold the Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) title.

DrKumarDr. Rajeev Kumar ABC | Dr Rajeev Kumar, ABC, is currently an independent strategic communication consultant in India. He was earlier the General Manager, Learning and Development at Tata Group Corporate Communication where he managed the Crisis Communication for the conglomerate and trained corporate communicators of all Tata companies. He holds Masters Degrees in Communication Studies and Defence Studies. He earned his M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. He was a Fulbright Doctoral Fellow at Texas A&M University. His doctoral work focused on communication in corporate restructuring and he specializes in Communication; Change Management; Issues Management; Media and Public Relations and Organizational Development.

His previous assignments include Head of Learning and Development at Larsen and Toubro, Professor in OB and HR at Goa Institute of Management and Senior Practice Consultant at the Tata Management Training Centre, Pune. He has also served  with the United Nations as a Military Observer in the Iraq- Kuwait Conflict. He has a military background and switched careers from the Army as a Colonel. He is accredited by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and is one of their Gold Quill Award recipients for excellence in Strategic Communication. He is the author of a book, “Intrapreneurs@mjunction”, a case study in Entrepreneurship.

Jennifer portrait by Albert NormandinJennifer Wah | Jennifer is an award-winning storyteller, communications strategist, writer and creative director with Forwords Communication Inc, in North Vancouver, Canada. She has been an active volunteer for 30 years with IABC, having served in numerous leadership roles with all levels and many programs of the association, including the International Executive Board. In the coming year, she is proud to serve as vice chair of the Fellows Committee as well as past chair for the Canada West Region. She is a regular conference presenter on storytelling, and has won more than two dozen awards for communications, including 12 International Gold Quill Awards. She is one of only a few IABC leaders in the world named both a Master Communicator and a Fellow. In 2012, Jennifer was named Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University.
 

Amy Miller cropped head shot at IABC LI 2-4-16Amy Miller | Amy, an IABC member since 2000, is 2017 – 2018 immediate past chair of the IABC Heritage Region. She previously served as chair, chair-elect, Silver Quill chair, members-at-large chair, and scholarships & chapter grants chair. Earlier roles include chapter president, president-elect and membership vice president for IABC/Dayton. Amy is a senior customer communication specialist for LexisNexis Group, global provider of the Web-based Lexis® and Nexis® research services. She works with marketers to produce promotional and how-to communications—from advertising, promotional emails and websites to case studies and product literature. Amy holds a B.A. in English from the University of Virginia.
 

Ed_Kamrin_DSC_9951Ed Kamrin, CMP | Ed has a broad background in internal and marketing communications and serves as communications manager for Corporate Citizenship at McKesson Corporation, a FORTUNE 5 company. Based in San Francisco, Ed is past chair of IABC’s Pacific Plains Region and past president of IABC/San Francisco. He is also a past Silver Quill chair and has served as evaluator for numerous Gold, Silver and Bronze Quill programs. Earlier in his career, Ed worked in Finland and completed master’s studies at the University of Helsinki. Ed is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Swarthmore College and earned his Communication Management Professional certification in 2017.
 

NikkiNikki Edwards | With more than 20 years of experience in employee communication and engagement, in both agency and global corporate environments on four continents, Nikki has worked with leading brands such as Visa, Bupa, Barclaycard, Rolls-Royce and more. She is an independent consultant currently working for, among others, London-based multinational financial organisations, on a range of strategy and communication projects. Nikki is also a managing partner at a boutique agency (hotchillibox.com) which provides end-to-end content, web development services and e-commerce solutions. 
 

SaraTaylorSara J. Taylor | Sara is a dynamic, award-winning, senior level communications and PR professional with 20+ years of progressive experience. For the past six years she has worked as a freelance consultant, creating content, strategies and solutions for a diverse range of clients.  A graduate of Humber College’s PR Certificate program, Sara now enjoys working with the next generation of professionals in her roles at Humber as a part-time professor and internship advisor.  Sara is a proud and active member of IABC, having served a number of roles at local, regional and global levels. For 2017/2018, she is Past Chair of the IABC Canada East Region Board comprising eight vibrant chapters.
