ABOUT THE IEB

2017-18 IEB Photo_FormalThe International Executive Board, or IEB, is the governing body of IABC and is accountable to its members. The IEB shall have supervision, control, and direction of the affairs of the association; actively pursue the association’s purpose; determine its policy within the limits of the law, Bylaws, and Articles of Incorporation; uphold the IABC Code of Ethics for Professional Communicators; and supervise disbursement of funds. The IEB develops the strategic plan and direction for the association under the guidance of the Association Bylaws approved by the IABC membership. The IEB serves as the Board of Trustees for the IABC Foundation.

SHunter_Profile_June 2016Sharon Hunter, SCMP –  Chair |  Sharon Hunter is an independent consultant with over 20 years of marketing and communication experience across the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Her services focus on integrated strategic planning, digital content strategy and facilitation to foster collaboration for change. Most recently with Concordia University, Montréal, she oversaw engagement strategies focused on the student experience journey and change communication for a two-year, enterprise-wide Student Information System implementation, in which she served on the steering committee. An active volunteer, Sharon supports professional skills training and mentoring initiatives for students and young professionals. She served for six years in the award-winning IABC Montréal chapter, was named Chapter Leader of the Year in 2013 for her community partnerships work and has served for four years on IABC’s international executive board.

Ginger Homan_2017Ginger D. Homan ABC, SCMP – Vice ChairGinger Homan, ABC, is founder of Zia Communications, a firm specializing in campaigns to change behaviors, build communities and transform thinking. Her award-winning communication model has been used by foundations and corporations to grow brands and align cultures. Ginger served as a director on the International Executive Board from 2014-2017 and as IABC Secretary/Treasurer from 2015- 2017.  She was the Director of North American for the IABC Accreditation Committee and served in several roles on her local chapter board. Ginger is a recipient of the 2016 IABC Chairman’s Award, the IABC Tulsa chapter’s John Hartman Professional Communicator of the Year and Leadership Tulsa’s Paragon Award for board service with the American Heart Association. Her work has been recognized by the IABC Gold Quill program, the Society of Marketers of Professional Services and the Public Relations Society of America.

dianne-chaseDianne Chase –  Past Chair Dianne Lynn Chase is senior partner at C4CS, LLC, Leaders in Strategic Communication and Crisis Management, serving client partners from around the world. She oversees strategic development and instruction in crisis communication, planning and management; message development; issues management; and presentation and interviewing skills training for corporate and government clients. She is past chair of the IABC Southern Region, where she served five years on the board. She served as vice chair of the 2015 IABC World Conference Program Advisory Committee and as a member of the IABC Brand Taskforce. She is a past three time president of her home chapter in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Chase is also a long-standing board member and past two-term president (and first woman to serve in the role) of the Radio-Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (formerly the Radio Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas). She is the winner of numerous local, state, regional and national broadcast journalism awards. She’s was named to ‘50 Most Influential Women’ by the Mecklenburg Times and her awards include a National Associated Press Broadcasters Enterprise Award and the Bishop Fulton J. Sheen Award.

Alain LegaultAlain Legault – Secretary/Treasurer | Alain Legault, based in Montréal, is the director for communication, public affairs and government relations of the largest college in the province of Québec, Canada. From 2005 to 2011, he acted has the chief of staff of the director of the Montréal Police Service. He also teaches media relations at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). A high-level, bilingual communication professional with expertise in crisis management and corporate issues, he demonstrates passion, enthusiasm, and above all, a desire to be involved and to excel. He joined IABC more then 10 years ago and, has been a member of the board of IABC/Montréal, the largest bilingual chapter of IABC, since 2010, as well as its president from 2013–15.

SherrySherry Kennedy – Director | Sherry is an integrated communications specialist with a focus on communications within the international development sector. In her current position with the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI), she is responsible for the company’s communications and marketing activities based in Nairobi, Kenya. In addition to her primary role, she also supports business development initiatives and manages the company’s brand and relationship management strategies. Sherry holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Sociology from Queen’s University (Canada), A Master’s Degree in Social Work from Wilfred Laurier University (Canada) and a Master’s Degree in Public Communications from American University (U.S.A.).

Daniel Munslow CPRP – Director | Daniel is the founder and Director of MCC Consulting in South Africa. He has 15 years’ experience in business communications and consulting, and has worked across multiple industries in numerous African countries, as well as in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. He focuses on strategic communication consulting, crisis communication, measurement, and leadership communication training for senior practitioners and business leaders. He co-authors one of South Africa’s most comprehensive research papers on communication, and is a member of the Global Communication Report’s global advisory board. Daniel was the 2014/16 IABC Africa Regional Chairperson; multi-year judge on the IABC Gold Quills; past vice-chairperson of the PRISA PRCC; All Star speaker at the IABC World Conference; and a chief judge in the annual PRISA PRISM Awards.

shannon-frederickShannon Frederick ABC – Director | Shannon Frederick, ABC, is a strategic communications and human resources professional with 20 years of corporate experience. She currently serves as Director of HR Communications and Associate Experience for Walmart and is based at the company’s Home Office in Bentonville, Ark. Shannon is a member of IABC Tulsa, which won the 2013 IABC International Chapter of the Year Award under her presidency. She has also served on the boards of IABC Dallas and the IABC Southern Region. Shannon is a 2016 Gold Quill and “Best of the Best” winner, and a recipient of IABC Tulsa’s John Hartman Professional of the Year Award. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism & Broadcasting/Public Relations and a master’s degree in Mass Communication from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., and in 2011 completed all requirements to hold the Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) title.

Three’s a Crowd is a strategic agency with a team of 20 that solves business problems with creativity and technology. Zora has more than two decades of experience in business, marketing, communication, advertising and branding. Zora is Past President of IABC Victoria, a Gold Quill winner, a recipient of the IABC 2015 Chairman’s Award and a Blue Ribbon Panel evaluator. She has served on a number of NFP boards and committees; is a Company Directors graduate with the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Marketing. Zora has a Masters of Commerce, a Masters of Marketing and a Bachelor of Business (Tourism).

MICHAEL_NORD_LIMichael Nord – Director | Michael Nord, Principal Consultant with The Fifth Business, lives in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and works in London, where he facilitates and steers strategic large communications projects in blue-chip companies across the globe. He has previously worked for Philips, Belkin, IAVI, PR-agencies and the Danish Government. Michael was co-founder of the Dutch IABC chapter in 2007 (the year he joined IABC), and is currently Chair of the Nomination Committee for the EMENA region. He chaired EuroComm 2015 and supported EuroComm 2016 and 2017. He has served on PACs, and sit on the taskforce for global sponsorships. Michael is a member of the Programme Advisory Board for Offshore Energy.

Jill Vitiello_1Jill Vitiello – Director | Jill Vitiello is president of Vitiello Communications Group (VTLO), a global leader in business communications. VTLO works with executives in highly regulated industries to engage people and inspire them to achieve great outcomes. A prolific blogger, published author and speaker, Jill is passionate about the power of communication, entrepreneurship and empowering women. She has received numerous honors, including the Communications Leadership Exchange Achievement Award, New York Business Journal Women of Influence Award, Enterprising Woman of the Year Award, NJBIZ Best Fifty Women in Business, and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill and New Jersey chapter Communicator of the Year. In 2016, Jill was elected to the International Executive Board of IABC. Jill earned a Master of Arts degree in journalism from New York University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Certificate in Women’s Studies from Rutgers University.

Carruthers MBA-PR, CMC – Director | Sheila is the founder of CSR Strategies, a management consulting firm specializing in corporate social responsibility and organizational excellence. Located in Calgary, Canada, she’s been helping clients leverage their social value for more than a decade. She’s served on more than a dozen boards and committees throughout her career; and she is the current Past President of IABC Calgary. Under her leadership, the Calgary chapter won International Chapter of the Year and Large Chapter of the Year awards in 2017. Sheila is a Certified Management Consultant and holds an MBA in Public Relations and Communications Management.

Leanny N_HeadshotLeanne Nyirfa ABC – Director | Leanne is a communication consultant with more than 20 years’ experience serving clients in the government, corporate and non-profit sectors. Leanne’s expertise includes strategic communication planning, issues management, and media relations training.  She is also a contracted spokesperson for Canada’s electoral agency, Elections Canada. Leanne is Past President of IABC Saskatoon, and currently sits as Senior Delegate on her Chapter Board. Active in her community, Leanne mentors young women through the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan, and serves on the Board of Directors of Saskatchewan’s largest conservation agency, an appointment by the Province of Saskatchewan.
