ABOUT THE IEB

2017-18 IEB Photo_FormalThe International Executive Board, or IEB, is the governing body of IABC and is accountable to its members. The IEB shall have supervision, control, and direction of the affairs of the association; actively pursue the association’s purpose; determine its policy within the limits of the law, Bylaws, and Articles of Incorporation; uphold the IABC Code of Ethics for Professional Communicators; and supervise disbursement of funds. The IEB develops the strategic plan and direction for the association under the guidance of the Association Bylaws approved by the IABC membership. The IEB serves as the Board of Trustees for the IABC Foundation.

Ginger Homan_2017Ginger D. Homan ABC, SCMP – ChairGinger Homan, ABC, SCMP, is founder of Zia Communications, a firm specializing in campaigns to change behaviors, build communities and transform thinking. Her award-winning communication model has been used by foundations and corporations to grow brands and align cultures. Ginger served as a director on the International Executive Board from 2014-2017 and as IABC Secretary/Treasurer from 2015- 2017.  She was the Director of North American for the IABC Accreditation Committee and served in several roles on her local chapter board. Ginger is a recipient of the 2016 IABC Chairman’s Award, the IABC Tulsa chapter’s John Hartman Professional Communicator of the Year and Leadership Tulsa’s Paragon Award for board service with the American Heart Association. Her work has been recognized by the IABC Gold Quill program, the Society of Marketers of Professional Services and the Public Relations Society of America.

Victoria DewVictoria Dew, SCMP – Vice Chair | Victoria Dew, SCMP, is the Founder and CEO of Dewpoint Communications, a consultancy focused on helping businesses to grow smarter and faster through strong company culture and employee communication. Victoria has 12 years of corporate communications leadership experience, in more than a dozen industries and sectors, both in the US and overseas. As a consultant, coach, and in-house practitioner, she has worked with diverse businesses, ranging from solopreneurs to some of the world’s largest technology companies. An IABC members since 2006, Victoria has served as President of IABC Wellington, Chair of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as on the IABC Finance Committee, Boston and Heritage region boards. She holds a BA from Skidmore College, an MA from King’s College London, and additional business and communications qualifications from Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.

SHunter_Profile_June 2016Sharon Hunter, SCMP –  Past Chair |  Sharon Hunter, SCMP, is an independent consultant with over 20 years of marketing and communication experience across the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Her services focus on integrated strategic planning, digital content strategy and facilitation to foster collaboration for change. Most recently with Concordia University, Montréal, she oversaw engagement strategies focused on the student experience journey and change communication for a two-year, enterprise-wide Student Information System implementation, in which she served on the steering committee. An active volunteer, Sharon supports professional skills training and mentoring initiatives for students and young professionals. She served for six years in the award-winning IABC Montréal chapter, was named Chapter Leader of the Year in 2013 for her community partnerships work and has served for four years on IABC’s international executive board.

Kathleen BellKathleen Bell, ABC, SCMP – Secretary/Tresurer | Kathleen Bell, ABC, SCMP, is the owner of kbell communications, a marketing and communication consultancy specializing in strategic work to maximize employee engagement. A creative innovator, Kathleen makes things happen. She provides coordinated, effective plans to change minds, build teams and ignite strategic initiatives. A proud ABC and SCMP, Kathleen doesn’t like telling people how long she’s been an IABC member, as it’s not kind to ask a lady her age. Suffice to say, she’s been a member since university. She has served the organization locally, regionally and internationally. Kathleen has been president of the IABC Calgary chapter, chair of the IABC Canada West Region board and recently served on the IABC Finance Committee. She’s won many Chapter Management Awards for her volunteer work and was an active participant in both of IABC/Calgary’s wins for International Chapter of the Year. In 2017, she was named Longstanding Volunteer of the Year award by the IABC Calgary chapter.

Zora Artics_Updated HeadshotZora Artis, GAICD, FAMI, CPM, MComm, MMktg – Director | Zora Artis, GAICD, FAMI, CPM, MComm, MMKtg, is Chief Executive Officer and lead strategist of 3AC in Melbourne, Australia. 3AC is a creative agency with a team of 15 that is focused on helping clients succeed whether its solving a business problem or leveraging opportunities via strategy, creative and digital. Zora has almost than three decades of experience in business, marketing, communication, advertising and branding. She is Past President of IABC Victoria, a Gold Quill winner, a recipient of the IABC 2015 Chairman’s Award and a Blue Ribbon Panel evaluator. She has served on a number of NFP boards and committees; is a Company Directors graduate with the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a Fellow and Certified Practicing Marketer of the Australian Institute of Marketing. Zora has a Masters of Commerce, a Masters of Marketing and a Bachelor of Business (Tourism).

Sheila CarruthersSheila Carruthers, MBA, CMC SCMP – Director | Sheila Carruthers, MBA, CMC, SCMP, is the founder of CSR Strategies Inc., a management consulting firm specializing in corporate social responsibility and organizational excellence. Based in Calgary, Canada, she’s been helping local, national, and international clients leverage and communicate their social value for more than a decade. She’s served on more than a dozen boards and committees throughout her career. Under her leadership, the Calgary chapter won International Chapter of the Year and Large Chapter of the Year awards in 2017. Sheila is a Certified Management Consultant and earned an MBA in Public Relations and Communications Management.

Bonnie CaverBonnie Caver – Director | Bonnie Caver is the President and Founder of Reputation Lighthouse, a branding and reputation marketing firm with offices in Denver and Austin. The firm focuses on leading companies to create, accelerate, and protect their brands. A 20-year communications veteran, Caver is a Certified Crisis Manager from the Institute of Crisis Management and is one of few in the world to hold an advanced certification for reputation through the Reputation Institute. Caver is a current member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Finance Committee, is a past chair of the IABC Southern Region, and was a member of the Brand Task Force. Caver enjoys the role of mentor for young professionals and is a frequent speaker on branding, reputation, and thought leadership topics.

Deb HilemanDeb Hileman, SCMP – Director | Deb Hileman, SCMP, is a business leader and certified strategic communication management professional (SCMP) with more than 30 years’ experience in public and private companies and non-profit organizations, Deb Hileman, SCMP has led high-performing communications teams in health care, manufacturing, insurance and financial services and higher education, among others. Known as a voice of calm in the midst of chaos, Deb has earned a reputation as a trusted strategist and advisor to C-suite executives, operations and other organizational stakeholders. An IABC member since 1992, she has previously served as a chapter president and regional director-at- large, among other roles. She is the 2017-18 Chair of the Global Communication Certification Council.

MICHAEL_NORD_LIMichael Nord, MBA, SCMP – Director | Michael Nord, MBA, SCMP, Principal Consultant with The Fifth Business, lives in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he steers and facilitates large strategic communications projects in blue-chip companies across the globe. He has  previously worked for Philips, Belkin, IAVI, agencies and the Danish Government. Michael was co founder of the Dutch IABC chapter in 2007 (the year he joined IABC), and is a former Regional Chair for the EMENA region. He chaired EuroComm 2015 and supported EuroComm 2016, 2017 and 2018. He has served on PACs, the Finance Committee, the Academy committee and sits on the taskforce for global sponsorships, and supports IABC leadership on technology issues.

Leanny N_HeadshotLeanne Nyirfa, ABC – Director | Leanne is a communication consultant with more than 20 years’ experience serving clients in the government, corporate and non-profit sectors. Leanne’s expertise includes strategic communication planning, issues management, and media relations training.  She is also a contracted spokesperson for Canada’s electoral agency, Elections Canada. Leanne is Past President of IABC Saskatoon, and currently sits as Senior Delegate on her Chapter Board. Active in her community, Leanne mentors young women through the Edwards School of Business at the University of Saskatchewan, and serves on the Board of Directors of Saskatchewan’s largest conservation agency, an appointment by the Province of Saskatchewan.

Matthew TidwellMatthew Tidwell, Ph.D., APR – Director | Matt Tidwell, Ph. D., APR, is on the faculty of the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas and directs KU’s master’s degree in integrated marketing communications. Previously, Matt helped lead communications agencies and served as senior communications director for companies including Great Plains Energy and Sanofi- Aventis Pharmaceuticals. Education and professional development are now his passion and he has been a frequent speaker locally and nationally. In addition to teaching, he conducts academic research in crisis communications and has been published in Journal of Professional Communications and IABC’s Communications World. He has a master’s in communications management from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from KU.

Jill Vitiello_1Jill Vitiello – Director | Jill Vitiello is president of Vitiello Communications Group (VTLO), a global leader in business communications. VTLO works with executives in highly regulated industries to engage people and inspire them to achieve great outcomes. A prolific blogger, published author and speaker, Jill is passionate about the power of communication, entrepreneurship and empowering women. She has received numerous honors, including the Communications Leadership Exchange Achievement Award, New York Business Journal Women of Influence Award, Enterprising Woman of the Year Award, NJBIZ Best Fifty Women in Business, and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill and New Jersey chapter Communicator of the Year. In 2016, Jill was elected to the International Executive Board of IABC. Jill earned a Master of Arts degree in journalism from New York University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Certificate in Women’s Studies from Rutgers University.
