The international executive board, or IEB, is the governing body of IABC and is accountable to its members. The IEB shall have supervision, control, and direction of the affairs of the association; actively pursue the association’s purpose; determine its policy within the limits of the law, Bylaws, and Articles of Incorporation; uphold the IABC Code of Ethics for Professional Communicators; and supervise disbursement of funds. The IEB develops the strategic plan and direction for the association under the guidance of the Association Bylaws approved by the IABC membership. The IEB serves as the Board of Trustees for the IABC Foundation.

 

EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS

Victoria DewVictoria Dew, SCMP – Chair | Victoria Dew, SCMP, is the founder and CEO of Dewpoint Communications, a consultancy focused on helping businesses to grow smarter and faster  through strong company culture and employee communication. Dew has 13+ years of corporate communication leadership experience, in more than a dozen industries and sectors, both in the US and overseas. As a consultant, coach, and in-house practitioner, she has worked with diverse businesses, ranging from solopreneurs to some of the world’s largest technology companies. An IABC members since 2006, Dew has served as president of IABC Wellington, chair of the Asia-Pacific region, as well as on the IABC Finance Committee, Boston and Heritage region boards. She holds a B.A. from Skidmore College, an M.A. from King’s College London, and additional business and communication qualifications from Massey University and Victoria University of Wellington.

Bonnie CaverBonnie Caver – Vice Chair | Bonnie Caver is the president and founder of Reputation Lighthouse, a branding and reputation marketing firm with offices in Denver and Austin. The firm focuses on leading companies to create, accelerate, and protect their brands. A 20-year communication veteran, Caver is a certified crisis manager from the Institute of Crisis Management and is one of few in the world to hold an advanced certification for reputation through the Reputation Institute. Caver is a past member of the IABC Finance Committee, is a past chair of the IABC Southern Region, and was a member of the Brand Task Force. Caver enjoys the role of mentor for young professionals and is a frequent speaker on branding, reputation, and thought leadership topics.

Ginger Homan_2017Ginger D. Homan ABC, SCMP – Immediate Past ChairGinger Homan, ABC, SCMP, is founder of Zia Communications, a firm specializing in campaigns to change behaviors, build communities and transform thinking. Her award-winning communication model has been used by foundations and corporations to grow brands and align cultures. Homan served as a director on the International Executive Board from 2014-2017 and as IABC Secretary/Treasurer from 2015- 2017.  She was the director of North American for the IABC Accreditation Committee and served in several roles on her local chapter board. Homan is a recipient of the 2016 IABC Chairman’s Award, the IABC Tulsa chapter’s John Hartman Professional Communicator of the Year and Leadership Tulsa’s Paragon Award for board service with the American Heart Association. Her work has been recognized by the IABC Gold Quill program, the Society of Marketers of Professional Services and the Public Relations Society of America.

Michael NordMichael Nord, MBA, SCMP – Treasurer & Secretary | Michael Nord, MBA, SCMP, principal consultant with The Fifth Business, lives in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where he steers and facilitates large strategic communication projects in blue-chip companies across the globe. He has previously worked for Philips, Belkin, IAVI, agencies and the Danish Government. Nord was co-founder of the Dutch IABC chapter in 2007 (the year he joined IABC), and is a former regional chair for the EMENA region. He chaired EuroComm 2015 and supported EuroComm 2016, 2017 and 2018. He has served on PACs, the Finance Committee, the Academy committee and sits on the taskforce for global sponsorships, and supports IABC leadership on technology issues.

Sheila CarruthersSheila Carruthers, MBA-PR, FCMC, SCMP – Executive Committee Member | Sheila Carruthers, MBA, FCMC, SCMP, a citizen of both the U.K. and Canada, leads CSR Strategies, a Calgary-based management consulting firm specializing in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and communication—she helps clients leverage and communicate their social value. Carruthers also leads professional training in ethics, management consulting, CSR, and strategic public relations. A committed volunteer in her community and professionally, Carruthers has served on more than a dozen boards and committees, including twice on IABC/Calgary board; both times when it won Large Chapter of the Year and International Chapter of the Year. In 2012, she was recognized as IABC/Calgary’s long-time Volunteer of the Year.

Jill Vitiello_1Jill Vitiello | Jill Vitiello is chief executive officer of Vitiello Communications Group (VTLO), a global leader in business communication. VTLO works with executives in highly regulated industries to engage people and inspire them to achieve great outcomes. A prolific blogger, published author and speaker, Vitiello is passionate about the power of communication, entrepreneurship and empowering women. She has received numerous honors, including the Communications Leadership Exchange Achievement Award, New York Business Journal Women of Influence Award, Enterprising Woman of the Year Award, NJBIZ Best Fifty Women in Business, and the IABC Gold Quill and New Jersey chapter Communicator of the Year. Vitiello earned an M.A. in journalism from New York University, and a B.A. in english, along with a certificate in women’s studies from Rutgers University.

Ben Shaw | Ben Shaw is CEO at SE10, a global content and communication agency with offices in London, Singapore and Chicago. The company serves clients in a range of sectors including the manufacturing, technology and energy industries. He has worked in media and public relations for over 20 years, starting as a technical writer at a publishing company in 1997 before leaving to co-found SE10 in 2002. Based in Singapore, he oversees the company’s day-to-day operations and divides his time between Asia, Europe and North America.

Deb HilemanDeborah Hileman, SCMP – Director | Deb Hileman, SCMP, is a business leader and certified strategic communication management professional (SCMP) with more than 30 years’ experience in public and private companies and non-profit organizations. Hileman has led high-performing communication teams in health care, manufacturing, insurance and financial services and higher education, among others. Known as a voice of calm in the midst of chaos, Hileman has earned a reputation as a trusted strategist and advisor to C-suite executives, operations and other organizational stakeholders.  An IABC member since 1992, she has previously served as a chapter president and regional director-at-large, among other roles. She is the 2017-18 chair of the Global Communication Certification Council.

Matthew TidwellMatthew Tidwell, Ph.D., APR | Matt Tidwell, Ph. D., APR, is on the faculty of the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Kansas and directs KU’s master’s degree in integrated marketing communications. Previously, Matt helped lead communications agencies and served as senior communications director for companies including Great Plains Energy and Sanofi- Aventis Pharmaceuticals. Education and professional development are now his passion and he has been a frequent speaker locally and nationally. In addition to teaching, he conducts academic research in crisis communications and has been published in Journal of Professional Communications and IABC’s Communications World. He has a master’s in communications management from Syracuse University and a Ph.D. from KU.

Danielle Bond, SCMP | Danielle Bond is the CMO of global engineering and infrastructure advisory firm Aurecon where she leads Brand, marketing and communication strategy. Prior to joining Aurecon in 2009, Bond led the marketing team at Ernst & Young in Oceania and several Australian law firms, including Corrs Chambers Westgarth. Brand strategy is a passion, and a strength. In all her roles she has worked closely with people and client leadership to differentiate and align the brand promise between employees and clients. She is a highly collaborative and creative leader and is passionate about people, innovation and workplaces of the future.

Derrick Rozdeba | Derrick Rozdeba is the vice president of communication and public & government affairs at Bayer Inc. in Canada. Previous to this role, he was head of integrated communication at Bayer CropScience Inc. Rozdeba is a senior communication expert with over thirty years of experience in both the client and agency-side of petroleum, airline, telecommunications, automotive and life science industries. Rozdeba has served on a number of boards and committees such as the global Youth Ag-Summit (architect), Canadian 4-H Council, Outstanding Young Farmers of Canada, Alberta Ballet, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary’s Science Centre, and Commanderie de Bordeaux á Calgary. He is also a passionate blogger on the topic of branding.

Maliha Aqeel, PMP, SCMP | Maliha Aqeel is an award-winning senior communicator. She’s an assistant director in EY’s Canadian Brand, Marketing and Communications group and a past president of IABC/Toronto. Previously, she spent several years in agency in Dubai, UAE, specializing in financial communication. After moving to Canada, she switched to client side and headed communication for the Institute of Corporate Directors. Her accomplishments include developing a new ICD brand and revamping ICD’s Director Journal magazine, which won Gold Quill and Silver Leaf awards. She also led EY’s Tax Canada Bot-a-thon campaign, recipient of the Gold Quill Best of the Best award in employee engagement.
