The North American Communication Monitor: Measuring Strategic Issues, Leadership Performance, and Work Stress Among Business Communicators

The North American Communication Monitor (NACM) 2018-2019 explores perceptions and insights from communication professionals in Canada and the United States, and is part of the Global Communication Monitor series spanning more than 80 countries.

Being the largest global study in the field of public relations and strategic communication, the research series’ goal is to stimulate and promote the knowledge and practice of excellent communication management worldwide. This NACM is based on responses from 1,020 communication professionals in North America (255 in Canada and 765 in the United States).

In this webinar, we will share and discuss the perceptions and Insights of those surveyed communication professionals in the following aspects:

  • Top pressing strategic issues for communicators over next three years.
  • The sharp evaluation gap between communication leaders and their employees on leaders performance.
  • Key factors causing work stress among communication professionals.

Presenter/ Juan Meng, Ph.D., is an associate professor of public relations at the University of Georgia. Meng’s research specialization includes leadership in public relations, talent management and leadership development, corporate reputation management, and employee engagement in strategic communication. Dr. Meng founded and directs UGA’s ADPR Choose China study abroad program, and serves as the Executive Director of Choose China Training, Education and Outreach programs in Grady.

Presenter/ Bryan Reber, Ph.D., the C. Richard Yarbrough professor in crisis communication leadership, is the head of the department of advertising and public relations at Grady College at The University of Georgia. In addition to his departmental and teaching responsibilities, Dr. Reber also directs the UGA Crisis Communication Coalition, dedicated to the study of crisis communication.

She led commercial teams at Omada Health and in healthcare consulting roles with Charles River Associates. Baker holds an MBA from Thunderbird and a BA in political science and asian studies from Northwestern University. She is the author of a blog focused on insights for leaders.

Presenter / Cindy Hunthas spent her career partnering to facilitate change through corporate leadership training and in public and private education. She has taught both domestically and internationally, is an educational consultant and state-wide education facilitator, focused on improving student outcomes, and brings deep expertise in adaptive communication. She’s trained groups small and large of school and business leaders and students on the art of adaptive communication. Her motivation is rooted in creating strong and empowered work and educational communities. Hunt has a MA in curriculum and instruction from Concordia University, Irvine and a BS from Cornell University in design and environmental analysis.
