gq-logoS&P Capital IQ is a research and analytics business servicing the global financial industry. Based in New York City, the business is a subsidiary of McGraw Hill Financial (launched in May 2013) and home to 8,000 employees, the majority of whom sit in India, Philippines, Buenos Aires, Canada and China. Our key competitors are Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and FactSet.

Communications Environment & Specific Challenges

Like many large global companies, we are experiencing constant change. Our business is comprised of five acquired businesses (CompuStat, Capital IQ, CMA, R2 and Quanthouse), and we’ve recently experienced transitions within our senior leadership team leaving questions about “who we are as a business” and what our long-term objectives are. There is a great deal of mistrust and low morale among employees who wonder about their futures. Our leadership team is based in NYC, leaving most employees believing we portray too much of a NYC-centric view of the world. Though 70%+ of employees sit outside of the U.S. or UK and speak English as a second language, we have no dedicated communications resources outside of New York, and rely on relationships built with people at various levels in every site who volunteer to help us deliver on major communications initiatives, manage logistics and other activities.
