The State of Trust: Edelman's 2026 Australasian Trust Barometer Results - IABC Asia Pacific Region

The State of Trust: Edelman's 2026 Australasian Trust Barometer Results - IABC Asia Pacific Region

12 - 12 May | 10:00 PM
Virtual

In this session, our speaker will reveal the Asia-Pacific findings from the most recent Edelman Trust Barometer, an annual global measure. Trust is the core of everything we do as professional communicators. And in a rapidly changing, tumultuous world, trust has never been more important. But, despite our best efforts, is trust in leaders, governments, and institutions increasing or decreasing. And what does this mean for us as communicators? Now into its 26th year, the Edelman Trust Barometer maps societal trust in the institutions of business, media, government and NGO’s. Over the course of the Barometer’s 26-year history, we have witnessed significant trends in terms of in whom and where we place trust. From the rise of misinformation at scale, to the decline of institutional leadership in developed countries. The 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals a world retreating towards insularity. As economic anxiety, geopolitical tension, and technological disruption intensify, people are narrowing their world to smaller, familiar circles that reflect their views, and this hinders economic and societal progress. Please join us as we unpack the implications of this rise in insularity and outline a path forward for institutions and leadership.
